As a part of KARI's ongoing commitment to ensuring that Aboriginal culture is reflected in all programs and services provided, we have introduced the KARI Cultural Advisory Group. The establishment of this committee ensures that all matters of cultural significance within the organisation are identified and addressed in a dedicated forum. It also indicates the level of significance that KARI places in protecting and promoting Aboriginal culture through all programs and services. Basically the role of the Cultural Committee is to act as the 'cultural compass' for the entire organisation. We believe that the establishment of this committee is a fundamentally important step which distinguishes KARI as a best-practice cultural service.
The KARI Cultural Committee undertakes a number of important culturally significant functions. These include:- Providing culturally appropriate advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of service delivery
- Acting as a conduit of information to the staff regarding cultural events or matters of cultural significance
- Organising and coordinating cultural events and programs for the staff
- Ensuring that the content of all KARI documentation remains culturally appropriate
- Offering cultural advice, guidance and feedback to any member of KARI staff or forum upon request
