As an Aboriginal organisation KARI is committed to the ongoing support and promotion of Aboriginal community led initiatives. It is for this reason that KARI has developed the Community Grants Program. This program allows members of the local Aboriginal community to submit an application to KARI for funding for their particular community initiative. Applications are assessed by the KARI Community Programs Team based upon a number of criteria including cultural appropriateness and benefit to the community.
Being community driven initiatives they are strategically targeted and driven by identified community need in all circumstances. They are also an important method for KARI to engage with the local Aboriginal community and support local Aboriginal community initiatives.
With over $50,000 being devoted to community grants programs in the past year alone, these community grants represent an important aspect of the KARI Community Programs Team's commitment to meaningful engagement with the Aboriginal community of South-Western Sydney.
KARI has supported a large number of community cultural events and programs over the past year through our Community Grants Program. This includes but is not limited to:
- Woodville Community Centre: Koori Kids Program Boating Excursion
- Coota Gulla Preschool - Transition from Pre - Primary school Project.
